When it comes to gummy candies, the first thing that comes to nearly everyone’s mind is gummy bears. They are perhaps the most iconic gummy candy and are popular among candy lovers worldwide.

Gummy bears are just as delicious as they are extraordinary and come from humble beginnings. The stretchy, tasty gummy bear actually goes through quite the process before it finds its way to your hand, ready to eat.

These days, most gummy bears are created in large candy manufacturing facilities that produce tens of thousands of them every day. But how long does it really take to make a gummy bear? The truth is, some manufacturers take more than 24 hours to create gummy bears! Who would have thought it would take so long to make such a simple candy?

The next question you may be asking yourself is, why does it take so long? Land Of The Gummies has the inside scoop and is ready to let you all in on the process. As one of the premier gummy companies in the United States, we know first-hand how gummy bears are made.

Here are the steps of the gummy bear creation process:

  1. Creating a mold is the first thing that needs to happen to make a gummy bear. The mold is made from an ingredient you might not suspect: cornstarch! A machine equipped with a stamp of the desired gummy shape presses into a tray of layered cornstarch, making an indent.
  2. While one machine is hard at work pressing molds, another machine mixes the ingredients for the gummy bears. These ingredients include gelatin, sugar, corn syrup, food coloring, and flavoring. These ingredients are heated to over 200 degrees Fahrenheit until it the hot mixture is ready to be deposited into the cornstarch molds to set.
  3. From there, we take each set of molds to a refrigerated area to cool off. This cooling period can vary, but may take up to 24 hours to be completed. Once the mixture has thoroughly cooled and solidified, the gummy bears are ready to be taken out of the molds.
  4. A machine will take the molds and flip them over to get the gummy bears out. The cornstarch molds will then disintegrate. Lumps of cornstarch are sifted out and reused for new molds to minimize the amount of waste.
  5. The gummy bears go through a high-pressure air cleaner to blow off any excess cornstarch. After that, the gummy bears are coated with mineral oil to give them their signature glossy look.
  6. The bears are ready! All that’s left is to package and ship them out to gummy fans like you.

Creating a single gummy bear takes over a day, but we can produce thousands of them in a single run. Land Of The Gummies only sells gummy bears of the highest quality.
