Gummy bear candies have been popular for many decades and for so many great reasons – from their beautiful, vibrant colors, their numerous fun shapes and sizes, to their amazing, delicious flavors.

The latest and greatest invention that is a must try when it comes to the gummy bear candies are – Filled Gummies! Each gummy bear has a chewy exterior with a perfectly tart liquid watermelon filling, in blueberry, cherry and green apple flavor, all covered with a fine sour sugar.

Now, some people not only love gummies, but also they love to learn new things and do DIY projects. If you’re one of them, and you’d like to try and make your own gummy bears, here’s how:

For this recipe, you’ll only need three ingredients: water, unflavored gelatin and flavored gelatin, and three tools: measuring cups, a saucepan, and a mold. If you want to have different flavors, you’ll need to completely clean your saucepan and mold before moving on to make another flavor.

Place your saucepan with ½ cup cold water on the stove, turn the heat to low, and add two tablespoons of unflavored gelatin and a full package of flavored gelatin to the water. Stir over low heat with a plastic spatula or a wooden spoon, and continue mixing until gelatin completely dissolves in the water and there are no sugar crystals on the bottom of the saucepan, and then transfer the mixture into a small measuring cup or a pitcher.

Allow mixture to sit and solidify slightly, and scrape off any bubbles that may have risen to the top. If is becomes too solid, simply reheat the mixture before moving on to the next step.

Place your gummy bear molds on a flat surface, and carefully pour the mixture into each space until it reaches just below the top edge of the mold. Give the molds a gentle shake to ensure the mixture settles at the bottom. Place your gummy bears in the refrigerator or freezer for 10 minutes or until the mixture sets, then remove and enjoy your candy.

If you have any leftovers, it’s best to place the gummy bears in a plastic sandwich bag or a plastic container with an airtight lid and store them in the refrigerator. You can always sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar or cornstarch over the gummies and shake before storing so they don’t stick together.

There – you’ve got yourself some homemade gummie bears!
